After the wispy yet frightening ghosts of Fatal Frame received a lukewarm reception on PS2, they're looking to scare the juices out of Xbox owners with enhanced visuals and sounds to send the creep-o-meter through the roof. But the developers at aren't simply waiting for the improved graphics and audio processing powers of Xbox to do all of the work. With dozens of new monsters, new unlockable costumes and a new ending for those brave enough to make it through to the end. Our brief look at an early version of Fatal Frame left us severely spooked. Seeing parts of the environment swirling around as an indication of an invisible ghost nearby and seeing them materialize right before your eyes are really treats on the Xbox.

Many cheesy B-movies have shown us that people in unindustrialized areas believe picture-taking can steal a person's soul, but in Fatal Frame it can straight up kill a ghost by draining them bit by bit.

Shooter skills are required since aiming your camera brings up a first person perspective where you have to keep the ghost in frame and hold it in frame for as long as possible to maximize the energy drain from that sucker when you hit the A button to take the picture. You end up with a dead ghost and a picture of him or her in your album that builds throughout the game. That way you can remember your scary conquests. You can access an elaborate menu/inventory system by hitting the Y button and there you can check your photos, read important notes you've collected along the way and upgrade your camera (there's some handy stuff in those haunted houses!) to make it faster, more powerful and easier to use. The X button is a 'speed up' button for lack of a better word since it doesn't make the main character run but she does walk faster --although not in a Benny Hill kind of way. This is a nice touch to help you quickly get through all of that doubling back these kinds of games require.
